The best way to produce calm data on rural roads is to read the road early. Reduce speed before a bend rather than braking hard in it, leave space for oncoming vehicles and accelerate only when visibility improves. Trying to maintain one constant speed can be much less safe than making frequent but progressive adjustments.
Rural roads demand more changes of speed
Country lanes often have blind bends, narrow sections, hidden junctions and changing gradients. Sensible driving therefore involves slowing and accelerating more often than on a steady motorway. That does not automatically mean the driving is poor.
